The Aldo logo was designed by middle-school students with the help from Jenna Kast of jenna kast studio to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Aldo Leopold Community School.


The A represents Aldo Leopold’s shack

The L represents the sandhill crane

The D represents nature

The O represents nature-based learning and inquiry


Aldo Leopold (1887-1948) was an influential conservationist and environmentalist. He was a professor at the University of Wisconsin. His most popular–and maybe most important–work is Sand County Almanac (1949), a series of observations on nature that define his environmental philosophy.
